For the second year in a row, Yamaha has selected forty exceptional music educators under the age of forty in their “40 Under 40” music education advocacy program. The program celebrates outstanding music educators who go above and beyond to elevate music in their students’ lives. Danielle Collins of APA’s Music, Media & Entertainment Technology (MMET) department has been recognized as one of these remarkable educators.
“The ‘40 Under 40’ music education advocacy program was established to honor music educators at all grade levels,” states Yamaha. “Collins is an immensely skilled music educator who is the Director of Music and Entertainment Technology Department, at the Academy of Performing Arts at Huntington Beach High School in Huntington Beach, California.”
Ms. Collins oversees APA’s Popular Music department with all performing and recording groups. These classes include Songwriting and Recording, Advanced Professional Music, Music Production 1 & 2, and Guitar.
“I was thrilled to be nominated,” says Ms. Collins. “As a former traditional music educator, I’m happy to see the support for Popular Music Programs in the educator community!”
Hundreds of nominations were received by students, parents, teachers, and mentors highlighting the music educators who positively impacted their community and students. The selection was based on proposing and implementing new or bold ideas, offering innovation and imagination in achieving plans and objectives, and establishing and growing or improving music education in their schools and communities.
